Major Flooding in Kansas

Extremely heavy rain is occurring in Kansas right now, ongoing flooding in many communities....with 10+ counties under flash flood warnings tonight. Orange shading is radar estimates of 2"-4" and red shows 4"+.

Another Canadian Cool Down Possible

No long August heat wave in sight, instead we now watch for Canadian air masses to rotate into the Midwest. We may see a repeat of what occurred over the weekend, as the jet stream is forecasted to "kink" allowing cool Canadian air to surge south into the U.S. The european model and american model are now both showing this feature. More records would fall if this hold true, we will have to wait and see..

More severe weather possible the week

A couple opportunities for severe weather Thursday and Friday. Another slow moving cold front will push south from Canada by the end of the week. Widely scattered thunderstorms will develop tomorrow in and around the brown shaded area. Some of which could be strong, with the primary threat being larger hail (given the cold air aloft). The storms will weaken as the sun sets and thier energy is stripped away from them, the storms will then redevelop in Wisconsin on Friday. Same general scattered nature as Thursday.  A "slight" risk of severe weather may be needed for tomorrow and more so on Friday. Be sure to keep it to www.midwestweather.org for updates.

Severe Weather Likely this Afternoon

Severe Weather threat increasing this afternoon. The sun is out, the humidity is in place, and instability is on the rise. The enclosed area looks to be the highest threat area. The highest threat is over northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Main threat include damaging winds, hail, very heavy rain and isolated tornadoes. Be sure to keep an eye to skies if you live in these areas. More storms tomorrow as a cold front pushes through the Great Lakes.

Severe Weather with Heavy Rain

The week will bring round of heavy rain with embedded areas of severe weather. With the humid air mass in place, the groundwork is set for more flooding. Here is an outlook of severe weather for tomorrow. Today's threat will mostly be in the Dakotas, this will shift east overnight.
